Student-led Learning

 

Belgrove BNS were looking for innovative ways to use technology effectively in all areas of the school’s success: teaching, learning, planning and admin. The school have a very positive staff who were particularly interested in finding exciting ways to engage students.

The Challenge

The staff at Belgrove were very confident with technology use in general and had been successfully implementing technology in different subject areas prior to approaching Olus Education. Aware of the potential technology offers, they approached Olus to see what opportunities were available for their staff and students to use technology more effectively.

The Solution

Beginning with a structured digital learning curriculum for the staff, Olus supported the school in building an increasingly progressive school plan, year-on-year. The school has used the student-led portal in all classes, with classes using it for digital literacy as well as coding - while simultaneously providing a strong foundation for tech basics among students (and staff).

The Results

The student-led portal has enabled less skilled teachers to immediately offer a richer curriculum while they up-skill themselves, while more confident teachers have utilised it to create dynamic, differentiated learning environments.
